Rising Strong™ Workshop

12 Week Workshop

When we step into the arena of our lives and dare greatly in the world, we are going to fall and have “face-down” moments.  But in this workshop, through exercises and discussions, we discover how to write new endings that allow us to bounce back from perceived failures, and live with new confidence and determination.

Are you...

✔︎ Self-critical and judging yourself for your failures?

✔︎ Feeling like you don't want to try something because you might fail again?

✔︎ Still reeling from the emotions from you last failure, and are not sure how to get "over it."?

✔︎ Dealing with a life transition, personal or professional setback, or disappointment?

✔︎ Struggling with emotions around challenges in your life?

This workshop IS BASED ON THE RESEARCH BY BRENé BROWN, which deals with the way shame holds us back in life and how our vulnerability is key to overcoming shame and finding our courage.

When we deny our stories and disengage from tough emotions, they don’t go away; instead, they own us, they define us. Our job is not to deny the story, but to defy the ending—to rise strong, recognize our story, and rumble with the truth until we get to a place where we think, Yes. This is what happened. This is my truth. And I will choose how this story ends.”

In this workshop you will learn how to:

✔︎ See vulnerability as true courage and the foundation for real connection and relationship.

✔︎ Learn how to get back up after a fall, disappointment, or set back without pretending or hiding, but with honesty and courage.

✔︎ Explore the process of getting back up and rising strong after stumbling or falling when we dare greatly and take risks in the world

✔︎ Identify our stories about ourselves and others that get in the way of us getting back up after a setback

✔︎ Understand the underlying aspects of the failure process and how to make better choices in those moments of discomfort and hurt.

✔︎ Learn how to take authorship of your story and write your own ending

This is a safe, supportive, nurturing, positive, fun, and empowering experience. It includes exploration, experiential exercise, videos, guided journal writing, creativity through arts and crafts, music, movement, stories, and play.

About Your Workshop Leader

Rebecca Seamon, M.Ed. LPC

Certified Daring Way Facilitator

Hi! My name is Rebecca and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, and Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator specializing in helping clients get emotionally “unstuck” and grow to live a life in full bloom, which means thriving instead of just surviving.

With over 15 years of experience as a counselor, I have enjoyed leading numerous groups and workshops over the years and have completed an extensive training with Dr. Brené Brown’s team to understand and teach The Daring Way™ and Rising Strong™ curricula.

In this workshop, I create a safe environment, where we will support each other as we rumble with the emotions that get stirred by our stories. And learn how to rewrite the endings to our stories based on our values that light our way and give us the strength to carry on. With warmth and compassion, I invite you to join us on this journey.

About Brene Brown

The Daring Way™ method is based on the research of Brené Brown, Ph.D. LMSW. Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past twelve years studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness, and shame, and is now using that work to explore a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness. She poses the question: How do we learn to embrace our vulnerabilities and imperfections so that we can engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness?

Brené is the author of two #1 New York Times bestsellers; Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead (2012), and The Gifts of Imperfection (2010). She is also the author of I Thought It Was Just Me (2007).

Brené’s 2010 TEDx Houston talk “The Power of Vulnerability” is one of the top ten most viewed TED talks in the world, with over 14 million viewers. Additionally, Brené gave the closing talk at the 2012 TED conference, where she talked about shame, courage, and innovation.
